At
Frameries, the legend forms an original element.
It’s
our identity :
Marotte
and Litgère :
Once
upon a time two young orpheline sisters lived at the village.
They were the most beautiful and sweet girls in the village.
They
were only fifteen years old when two of the most influential monks
from the village tried to attract their love and affection.
But,
the sisters were far too clever and started making fools of both
the monks as they did not love the monks.
As
they were not at all used to such resistance, it only made their
love stronger and stronger.
“Only
the Devil can make my monks turn pale and lose weight”,
said the father abbot.
When
he heard that the young girls were the cause of the troubles,
he shouted :
“Throw
them in prison, judge them and burn them like witches in the middle
of the chapter”.
